Since 1992 in Santo Domingo and elsewhere... Colonial Tours was founded by international tourism professionals. Since its creation, the company has demonstrated an avant-garde approach. Indeed, very soon after the first agency opened, the managers decided to open branches across the whole island in order to meet the needs of European Tour Operators with whom the agency was starting to work.

Since her arrival in 1989 the founder of Colonial Tours, Maria Grazia Battaglia, has constantly worked to develop tourism in the Dominican Republic. Having originally come to the country to manage the incoming operations of the well-known tour operator Ventaglio Viaggi from Punta Cana, after four years, and having gained extensive knowledge of the field, in 1993 she decided to launch Colonial Tours. With offices in Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo and Punta Cana and a manger on each site, she oversaw all the operations from Punta Cana.
Offering incoming tourist services, Colonial Tours mainly took care of transfers for tourists from Punta Cana: over land to Samana and by plane to Puerto Plata. In 1997 the office in Puerto Plata was closed and its team transferred to Las Terrenas.

In 1997 Colonial Tours was originally established at Cacao Beach to provide support and assistance to customers of tour operators such as Condor, Italtourist, Presstours and Suntur who accounted for 85% of the hotel’s occupancy rate!

Relocated from Puerto Plata, Colonial Tours’ small incoming tourism team soon found themselves dealing with requests from foreign residents for air tickets to Europe. 
 
Today Colonial Tours has 6 offices in the main tourist regions of Hispaniola, the most recent of which has just opened in... Puerto Plata! The three others are on the Caribbean coast in La Romana, Juan Dolio and Boca Chica. The head office is located at the heart of the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo on Arzebispo Meriño street, not far from the cathedral...
